Southwest Florida Heritage Festival Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 10 am to 4 pm
Travel back in time and experience the life of the Florida pioneers such as blacksmithing, sugar cane grinding, basket weaving, wood carving, quilting, and lots more. Enjoy pioneer craft and trade demonstrations demonstrators, storytellers and re-enactors. Seminole Indians, conquistadors and working cowboys will be on hand. See reptiles, birds, butterflies and go on a pony ride. Old-time food such as barbecue pork, roasted corn, sweet potatoes and more will be available. Activities for all ages will entertain you including hay rides, covered wagon rides, gourd painting and toy making. Country, Folk and Banjo music will entertain you. There is something for the whole family plenty of parking is available.

Starry Nite at Crowley Museum & Nature Center
February 2009 Starting at 5 pm
Sarasota's most unique fundraiser! A night of live music, an exquisite catered dinner, silent and live auctions, viewing of the night skies and hayrides to our pioneer area for guided tours. The Local Group of Deep Sky Observers bring their high powered telescopes for an unbelievable look at the beautiful night skies.
